eventful summer (so far)

well, we've been home for a while, adjusted to the time change and gotten back into the swing of things, going to ultimate and eating our favorite restaurants.

perhaps we shouldn't have come home.

our first saturday back at ultimate the field was set up in an unusual position because there was a hazard (some trench or something) in one of our usual end zones. we didn't have too many people that day so there weren't a lot of subs. i lined up and then, because not many women were playing, it was just my luck to have dan line up against me. dan is, of course, waaaaaaaay better than me so i yelled across the field that he better be nice to me. he said i would never learn that way - typical - so when we started playing i took off and headed for the end zone. i was so excited that i was beating dan and might actually score that i didn't notice right away that he was rolling around on the ground clutching his foot. needless to say, i had not beaten him in a foot race as i thought (he says now he wasn't even trying to catch me) and our new field position was not hazard free as we had all thought (dan essentially fell in a hole).

i wrapped dan's foot and we left. over the next few days his foot stayed puffy and turned blue and purple so we went to the doctor to see if it was broken. it wasn't, luckily, but it was bruised and painful for a while. it's back to normal now and we got to play again yesterday.

but all was not well...

perhaps you've heard about the salmonella outbreak. yeah, we got it, we think. we were so excited to have mexican food again after a month of asian flavors. that's all i'm going to say about that.

so we've been having an eventful summer. still not feeling 100% but we're trying to have fun anyway. we went to vegas last weekend with young, and i'm off to colorado next week. i'm sure (i hope) i'll have some more appetizing events to discuss soon.
