#1: i don't remember, but i think it had something to do with dan's not being in the picture. (this is from our trip to vegas at the restaurant michael mina.)

#2: this is me on our anniversary playing with sparklers in the back yard.

#3: honestly, i had trouble getting dan to pose for this picture. but i had to get proof that he, at least for a little while anyway, got back to his quaker college roots and donned a peace beard. the patriotic glasses are a nice touch, don't you think? here's the follow up picture, taken roughly 3 minutes after the other:
