die Schwiegereltern - in-laws

i got lucky in the mother-in-law department. how many other schwiegermutters would let you post, let alone take, a fantastic picture like this?

today is may day. in a studious attempt to avoid the rioting berlin is famous for we got out of town - to sachsenhausen concentration camp. needless to say, this may day activity was a little different than those of my youth which involved may poles, madrigal singers, and elephant ears.

after a morning spent numbed by the stories, pictures and simple existence of sachsenhausen we needed a big change. tapas and a bottle of mid-day/may day wine brought us back to life and then promptly put us to sleep. there was no rioting in our house - at least not today - so we had nap time. we had cake and coffee a few hours later and then said goodbye to dan's parents. they are off to dresden tomorrow and then prague and vienna. we'll miss them.
