der letzte Tag - the last day
today was my last day of german class. i got the test back that we took last week and i did pretty well! it turns out i'm not as bad at german as i thought. and now we're leaving. schade!
going to school has always been fun for me - i love learning new things and i like the classroom environment. i guess that's why i teach.
i've discovered that there is a way i can put my love of school and new found german skills to work together in the bay area - the german american school. i've got a lot to learn before i could ever teach there (teachers must be fully bi-lingual) but that gives me a goal to work towards.
it seems that my time here in germany was not just one long vacation, or a 6 month blip of self-indulgence, or even the "writing sabbatical" that i was calling it. it was professional development.
so, on my last day of german class i took diligent notes, i had fun with my classmates, and i looked forward to a future that could look a lot like what i've been doing for the last 6 months.
