ändern - to change
as i watched the world cup finals in berlin from a 1950's era california diner, i decided it might be time to change the slant of this blog. we are firmly back in the states, speaking no german, and this will be the last big berlin centered event to blog about for a while - i'm guessing. over brunch today dan and i talked about how it felt to be back now that it's been a few weeks. we both felt good about being here, not ecstatic, but happy to be back to normal life - normal as can be with new jobs for both of us. (i was just asked to be children's musical theatre of san jose's first teacher in residence - meaning i will develop curriculum and teach musical theatre in four elementary schools during the school day, not as an after-school enrichment program. it's nice to come home to a job offer i didn't even have to apply for!)
so, the new subject of my blog will be observations of silicon valley. certain aspects of this area are really interesting to me, and utterly ridiculous. i plan on having several different types of entries, like columns in a newspaper. my hope is to post a few times a week. i'll keep the same url, so you won't have to reset your rss feed, even though after september i won't really be a housewife anymore. i still plan on being happy.
join me, won't you?

Congrats on the job you didn't even apply for. Those are the best kind.
Can't wait to read the new blog entries!
