nicht sehr Deutsch - not very german
meals in germany tend to take a while. a long while. we often spend hours sitting in a restaurant. once we went for pizza at about 3pm and were told by a waiter that the table was reserved so we had to vacate by 8. he was very serious about it! we assured him that would not be a problem. i think my butt would be numb if i spent 5 hours sitting at that table.
today i took the s-bahn out to the burbs to have lunch with dan. silly people that we are, we didn't make a plan or get recommendations for places to eat in the area. after driving around for a 1/2 hour looking for something that would be quick we ended up at (wait for it...) mcdonald's. i know, IKEA, mcdonald's, what's next? but it was darn tasty and the fastest meal we have had in the last month by far. in case you were wondering, the fries are just as good in german.
